Analysis of Survey Results

Gadgets and technology are always advancing and we humans are faced with the dilemma on whether to adopt these new technological advancements or not??? We have set up a survey to help us see what the reasons why people adopt new technology

Question 1

This question was set up to determine whether a blog was a viable way to present our final publication to our young adult target market. The results seem to lean in favour of a blog page as the final publication
Question 2

This question was asked to see why people upgrade their devices which can help us determine which stage of the technological adoption scale do South African youths fall under. From observation of the graph above it is clear to see we lie mostly in the late majority & laggard stages of the scale
Question3

This question was done to see what people mainly use their devices for. The expected answer we had for our target market was indeed that of “Entertainment”. We could have included a Social Networking option as that appeared the most in the other column, others stated more than one use The question could have been phrased a little better
Question 4
With these results we are able to see why people do not adopt gadgets early. People are finding the change in technology complicated and hard to grasp. The difficulty in grasping new technology also contributes to  where we lie on the adoption scale
Brand preference plays an important role on a person’s decision to adopt a gadget or not. Apple is most appealing followed by Samsung… An option for Blackberry should have been created has it appears under the other category 9 out 11 times (20.45%), the other 2 votes going to Falling giants, Nokia

Conclusion
After the survey we are able to interpret the following:
  • People mostly adopt new technology either to keep up or their current devices have become obsolete
  • The ''graspability'' of the new technology plays a factor in whether people adopt new gadgets or not
  • Brand names can influence  a persons decision in device adoption
